BIOSAFIRE will participate in the Workshop on SSbD Project Legacy, taking place on 3–4 November 2026 in Brussels, Belgium, to strengthen collaboration among European research projects and explore how Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) innovations can generate lasting impact.
Organised by the PINK project in collaboration with other European SSbD initiatives, the workshop will bring together representatives of Horizon Europe projects, researchers and key stakeholders to discuss how the knowledge, tools and methodologies developed through European research can be preserved, shared and further developed beyond individual project lifetimes.
Building a lasting legacy for SSbD research
The workshop will focus on the collective achievements of European SSbD projects and explore opportunities to strengthen cooperation, promote knowledge exchange and support the long-term adoption of safer and more sustainable materials and technologies.
Discussions will address the future of SSbD methodologies, digital tools, research data, industrial applications and collaborative networks, with the aim of identifying practical pathways to sustain and expand their impact.
BIOSAFIRE’s contribution to safer and more sustainable materials
BIOSAFIRE contributes to these objectives by advancing the development of bio-based flame retardants derived from renewable resources, including lignins and tannins, following a transparent, traceable and science-based SSbD approach.
By considering safety, environmental sustainability, technical performance and economic feasibility throughout the material life cycle, BIOSAFIRE aims to support the development of innovative alternatives for industrial applications.
Participation in the workshop will offer an opportunity to exchange experiences with other European projects, strengthen synergies and contribute to the wider implementation of SSbD principles.
The event will take place immediately before the European Commission’s Feedback-to-Policy Stakeholder Workshop, scheduled for 4–5 November 2026 in Brussels.
We look forward to connecting with the European SSbD community and contributing to a lasting legacy for safer and more sustainable innovation.
