On 4–5 November 2026, BIOSAFIRE will participate in the European Commission’s Feedback-to-Policy Stakeholder Workshop in Brussels, contributing to the dialogue on how EU-funded research can support more effective research and innovation policies.
Under the motto “Shaping Better Research and Innovation Policies”, the two-day event, co-organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) and the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), will bring together representatives of European research projects, policy experts and European Commission officials.
Connecting European research with policymaking
The workshop aims to strengthen the connection between EU-funded research and European policy development, exploring how scientific evidence, project results and practical experience can inform future research and innovation priorities.
Through interactive discussions and exchanges among researchers, stakeholders and policymakers, participants will explore opportunities to improve knowledge transfer, identify common challenges and maximise the long-term impact of European research investments.
BIOSAFIRE: advancing Safe and Sustainable by Design innovation
As a Horizon Europe project, BIOSAFIRE is committed to developing safer and more sustainable bio-based flame retardants through the application of the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework.
The project integrates safety, sustainability, technical performance and economic feasibility considerations throughout the material life cycle, supporting the development of innovative flame-retardant solutions for industrial applications.
By testing and validating SSbD principles in practical material development processes, BIOSAFIRE aims to generate knowledge and experience that can support the broader adoption of sustainable alternatives.
Participation in the Feedback-to-Policy Workshop represents an opportunity to engage with European stakeholders, exchange perspectives on SSbD implementation and contribute insights from ongoing research activities to the wider discussion on future European research and innovation policies.
BIOSAFIRE looks forward to contributing to the dialogue between research and policy, supporting a future where scientific innovation, safety and sustainability advance together.
