  •  October 27, 2026

7–8 October 2026 | Kraków, Poland

BIOSAFIRE continues to strengthen its visibility within the European composites industry through the dissemination activities of its project partners. On 7 and 8 October 2026, NOMA Resins, a Polish partner of the BIOSAFIRE consortium, participated in KOMPOZYT-EXPO 2026, the 14th International Trade Fair for Composite Materials, Technologies and Products, held in Kraków, Poland.

The event brought together industry professionals, researchers and technology providers to exchange knowledge and explore innovative solutions for the future of composite materials.

Exploring the future of composite technologies

During the conference accompanying the exhibition, Katarzyna Suchorowiec from NOMA Resins delivered a presentation entitled:

“How composites are transforming modern structures: advanced composite technologies in the construction, yacht-building, and automotive industries.”

The presentation explored the evolving role of composite materials across different industrial sectors, highlighting technological developments and opportunities for innovative applications.

As part of this contribution, NOMA Resins also promoted the BIOSAFIRE project, raising awareness of its research objectives and its commitment to developing safer and more sustainable flame-retardant materials.

The event provided an opportunity to connect BIOSAFIRE’s research activities with the wider composite materials industry, fostering knowledge exchange and increasing awareness of bio-based alternatives.

BIOSAFIRE: advancing safer and more sustainable materials

BIOSAFIRE is a European research and innovation project funded under the Horizon Europe programme. It focuses on developing innovative bio-based flame retardants derived from lignin and tannins, naturally occurring compounds with promising fire-retardant properties.

The project aims to develop safer and more sustainable alternatives to conventional flame-retardant substances while maintaining the performance required for industrial applications.

Through collaboration among 22 European partners, BIOSAFIRE works to scale up production processes and demonstrate innovative solutions across several application areas, including the maritime and railway sectors, household appliances and protective wood coatings.

NOMA Resins contributes its expertise in resin technologies and composite materials to this collaborative effort.

BIOSAFIRE also featured in the Polish chemical industry press

In addition to its participation in KOMPOZYT-EXPO, NOMA Resins has contributed to the dissemination of BIOSAFIRE through the Polish scientific and industrial press.

The July 2026 issue of Przemysł Chemiczny (Vol. 105, No. 7) featured an article entitled “Spółka Noma Resins współrealizuje międzynarodowe projekty” (“NOMA Resins participates in international projects”), presenting the company’s involvement in several European research and innovation initiatives.

The article includes a dedicated section on BIOSAFIRE, describing its objectives, the use of lignin and tannins to develop sustainable flame-retardant solutions, and the project’s industrial application areas.

This publication represents another opportunity to introduce BIOSAFIRE to professionals in the chemical and materials industries and increase awareness of European research supporting safer and more sustainable material technologies.

Connecting research and industry

Participation in events such as KOMPOZYT-EXPO and visibility in specialised industry publications are important elements of BIOSAFIRE’s communication and dissemination activities.

By sharing project objectives with industrial stakeholders, research organisations and technology experts, consortium partners help strengthen the connection between scientific innovation and potential real-world applications.

Through the active involvement of partners such as NOMA Resins, BIOSAFIRE continues to promote the development of bio-based flame-retardant technologies and support the transition towards safer, more sustainable materials.
