Silvachimica Srl

Silvachimica Srl (Silva) is a company part of the group Silvateam Spa, located in northwest of Italy close to the Alps, that started its production of chestnut tannin more than 170 years ago. The company has developed strong expertise in the study and development of tannins—both natural and synthetic—industrial oils, plant extracts, and food additives. Now it’s producing around 50k t/y of polyphenolic extracts from many botanical raw material and with different grade of purity according to the application. The main markets are in leather industry for tanning hides, for animal nutrition as functional additive in feed material, in wine and beer production process as clarifying agents, in agriculture as biostimulants, in resin for biopolymers.
The chemical laboratory of Silvachimica is a research and analytical laboratory with about 15-20 chemists working in, specialized in the extraction, purification and analysis of polyphenols and in their applications. This laboratory is equipped with different HPLC, LC/MS, UV-Vis, FT-IR, various extraction plants and pilot facilities.
